Completion of Arrangements to Conduct 135 Free Surgeries in Kassala

The Patients’ Aid Fund Organization signed an agreement, Thursday, with Kassala Teaching Hospital to implement the “Ma’rouf Industries” project to conduct (135) surgical operations funded by the King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Action, in the presence of the representative of the Minister of Health in Kassala State, Sha’uddin Hamza, and the Director General of Kassala Teaching Hospital, Amal Muhammad Ahmed.
The representative of the Minister of Health appreciated the contributions of the King Salman Center and the Patients’ Aid Fund in supporting health and social projects, and said that the surgical operations project comes at a time when patients and their families are suffering from displacement and scarcity of resources.
For his part, the Executive Director of the Patients’ Aid Fund, Abdul Majeed Fadlallah, explained that the project aims to contribute to health coverage in the states of Kassala and Gedaref by facilitating the provision of surgical health services to the poor, needy and displaced and financing them, noting that the hands of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the King Salman Center are extended with goodness to Sudan through a number of health, relief and development projects.
The project manager, Moataz Othman, added that the operations will include orthopedics, urology, general surgery, digestive system surgery, and ear, nose and throat surgery, and will be implemented in both Kassala Hospital and Gedaref Teaching Hospital. It is worth noting that the partnership between the Fund and the Center extends through the implementation of a number of projects, the latest of which was the project to provide medical equipment and an oxygen station for Al-Naw Hospital in Omdurman and rehabilitate kidney dialysis centers in a number of Sudanese states, which reflects the depth of cooperation in supporting the health sector in Sudan.
