Cairo – Sudanhorizon – Sabah Musa
Brigadier General Nabil Abdullah, the official spokesperson for the Sudanese Armed Forces, confirmed that the joint forces dealt a significant blow to the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia today, Saturday.
In an exclusive statement to the Sudanhorizon news site, Abdullah stated that the joint forces seized the militia’s primary base in the Al-Zurq region of North Darfur. The RSF had used this base to stockpile armed vehicles, weapons, and ammunition. He highlighted the strategic importance of Al-Zurq as the militia’s first main base since its inception. The area is located 87 kilometres from El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur state.
In a related statement, Major Ahmed Hussein, spokesperson for the joint forces, described Al-Zurq as a strategic location where the militia suffered its most severe defeat since the beginning of the war in Sudan.
Hussein told Al-Muhaqiq that intense battles took place in the area, culminating in its complete capture. He added that Al-Zurq is also home to the Al-Dagalo family, with the father and uncle of RSF leader Hemedti residing there. Hussein further explained that Al-Zurq’s significance lies in its role as a hub for all military and logistical supplies arriving from abroad to support the militia, including fuel and food supplies. The area also features an airstrip used to receive these supplies.
