Arab Center for Research Announces Launch of “Arabiqa” Encyclopedia Publication
Doha – Sudanhorizon
Dr. Azmi Bishara, Director General of the Arab Center for Research and Policy Studies, announced the start—two weeks ago—of publishing sample entries from the Arabic encyclopedia “Arabiqa” on a subdomain of the center’s website, pending the launch of a dedicated platform for the encyclopedia at the beginning of 2027.
In a post on his account on the platform X, Dr. Bishara stated that “Arabiqa is a comprehensive knowledge encyclopedia contributed to by hundreds of Arab researchers (and potentially thousands in the future) from various disciplines.” He added that it is edited by a panel of experts formed, trained, and organized by the center over three years, with established systems for peer review, editing, and proofreading. He noted that longer and medium-length entries will be signed by their authors.
Bishara described the project as “the largest initiative the center has undertaken since the Doha Historical Dictionary of the Arabic Language.”
