Al-Hilal Beats Al-Ahly of Libya and Travels to Juba with Al-Merrikh

Al-Merrikh and Al-Hilal teams have travelled together in one private plane, which took them on Monday, to the city of Juba, the capital of South Sudan, to play the second leg matches with the Libyan teams Al-Nasr and Al-Ahly for the first preliminary round of the African Champions League on August 24-25.

Al-Hilal of Sudan beat Al-Ahly of Libya on Sunday evening, by one goal to none in the match that took place at the Martyrs of Benina Stadium in Benghazi in the first leg of the first preliminary round qualifying for the groups.

Al-Hilal’s technical director, Abiji Florent, described the result as positive and that his team missed easy goals that could be compensated for in the second leg match in Juba.

Al-Merrikh of Sudan also tied negatively with Al-Nasr of Libya in the same competition and played a friendly match on Sunday evening with Al-Hilal of Benghazi and won it by two goals to one.

On August 24, Juba Stadium (Al-Merrikh’s virtual stadium) will host the second leg against Al-Nasr of Libya, and the winner will move on to face the qualifier from the Moroccan Royal Army and Nigeria’s Remo Stars in the second preliminary round qualifying for the group stage.

Al-Hilal will face Al-Ahly of Libya in the second leg on Sunday, August 25, at the same stadium for the first preliminary round.
