Al-Burhan Receives Senior Saudi Official; Meeting Discusses the Kingdom’s Initiative to Establish Peace in Sudan

The Chairman of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, received today (Wednesday) in his office in Port Sudan the Saudi Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Waleed Al-Khuraiji, and his accompanying delegation, in the presence of the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Muawiya Osman Khalid.

The Saudi official conveyed to the Chairman of the Sovereignty Council the greetings of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, along with their wishes for lasting peace and security for the Sudanese people.

According to a press release issued by the media office of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, General Al-Burhan expressed his thanks and appreciation to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and the Crown Prince for their attention and concern for sustaining peace and stability in Sudan, pointing to the historical ties and fraternal relations linking the two brotherly peoples.

The Chairman of the Sovereignty Council also expressed his appreciation to former U.S. President Donald Trump for his interest in the Sudanese file and his efforts toward ending the war and achieving peace.

The meeting discussed the peace initiative sponsored by the Saudi Crown Prince and former U.S. President Donald Trump, which aims to address the Sudanese crisis and establish peace in Sudan, in addition to the current situation in the region.

The meeting also addressed the ongoing arrangements for the convening of the Strategic Coordination Council between the two countries, which is held under the gracious patronage of the leadership in both brotherly nations.
