Al-Burhan Receives Official Invitation to Visit Egypt

Chairman of the Sovereignty Council, Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, on Wednesday received a written message from Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi regarding the course of bilateral relations between the two countries and ways to support, strengthen, and develop them in all fields.
According to the Sovereignty Council’s media office, Egyptian Ambassador to Sudan, Hani Salah, delivered the letter to Al-Burhan. Salah stated that the meeting discussed the importance of promoting and enhancing the distinguished relations between the two countries, in addition to regional and international issues of mutual concern.
He added that he delivered to the Chairman of the Sovereignty Council an official invitation from President Al-Sisi to attend the inauguration of the Grand Egyptian Museum on November 1st. Al-Burhan, he noted, expressed his eagerness to participate and to meet President Al-Sisi.
The ambassador further pointed out that the meeting addressed Egypt’s efforts to restore security and stability in Sudan, as well as the role of Egyptian leadership in regional and international initiatives to convey the true picture of events in Sudan, defend its interests, safeguard its sovereignty and independence, and protect its institutions.
He explained that the meeting also discussed ways of joint coordination between the two countries on the Nile water file, noting that Egypt will host meetings of the 2+2 mechanism between the foreign and irrigation ministers of both countries.
Al-Burhan, for his part, stressed the importance of Egypt’s role in supporting Sudan, defending its interests, restoring security and stability, and launching reconstruction and development projects.
The ambassador also noted the arrival of the Egyptian technical team in Khartoum to rehabilitate and maintain several bridges, affirming Egypt’s ongoing efforts to help resolve the Sudanese crisis and strengthen joint coordination with Sudan.
He added: “This is a central pillar of Egypt’s foreign policy, which considers Sudan’s security a red line and a natural and vital extension of Egyptian security.”
