Al-Aisir: Government Faces Systematic Media Campaigns Targeting the Country’s Stability
Khartoum – Sudanhorizon
Minister of Culture, Information, Antiquities, and Tourism, Khalid Al-Aisir, has stressed that the country needs, at this critical juncture, a national press that transcends differences and prioritizes the overall national interest.
Speaking on Monday at the Journalism Practices Forum, organized by the Ministry in collaboration with the Indiyah Awareness Center and the Al-Awal Al-Nahar newspaper, Al-Aisir emphasized the importance of transparency. He noted that the “Government of Hope” is a renaissance government working to address chronic problems that previous eras and governments failed to handle.
He added that the government’s current approach is a new one, delving into fundamental national issues, both long-term and short-term strategic matters, and addressing the concerns of the people’s livelihoods.
The Minister warned against disruptive media activity targeting the “Government of Hope,” citing examples of destructive activity in recent days, most notably the promotion of the collapse of the local currency and the dissemination of figures that negatively impacted exchange rates. He also mentioned the focus on the scarcity of petroleum products without acknowledging the successful efforts undertaken by the government to ensure fuel availability.
He warned against promoting information and claims originating from pro-militia groups operating outside the country, citing the recent uproar surrounding the Prime Minister’s trip to London and the dissemination of fabricated rumors about his dismissal. He further pointed to the promotion of the claim that the Cabinet intended to lay off 60% of civil service jobs, clarifying that what actually planned was the introduction of an optional early retirement program for those who wished to retire.
Al-Aisir questioned the purpose of pro-military media outlets launching systematic campaigns against the government, labeling this type of activity as “False Alarm Journalism.” He emphasized that the government is operating within the context of war and needs a reliable media presence, asserting that the Ministry has a strong track record and that no one can shake or intimidate it with rumors and campaigns.
