Agar Criticises British Envoy for Not Having a Vision for Solution

The Deputy Chairman of the Transitional Sovereign Council, Malik Agar, met on Thursday with the British Special Envoy to Sudan, Richard Crowder, whose visit to the country comes within the framework of consultations on the political and humanitarian situation in the Sudan.

During the meeting, Agar expressed his condolences for the martyrs of El Fasher, who were killed by the Rapid Support Forces militia, noting the shock that gripped public opinion as a result of the horrific violations committed by the rebel militias.

Agar said the Sudanese government welcomes the British Special Envoy’s visit to Sudan, explaining that he briefed him on the humanitarian situation in the country. He pointed to the destruction of the basic service and development facilities as a result of the terrorist militia’s attacks.

He said he conveyed to the envoy the Sudanese people’s anger at the international community’s silence in the face of the violations against civilians.

He indicated that all the militia’s actions are carried out under the pretext of seeking democracy or fighting Islamists, and at other times claiming it is a war against the 1956 state, which is merely a fabrication. The real intention is a new occupation of Sudan, and the militia’s contradictory slogans reflect their lack of a clear vision for the future.

Aqar stated that the envoy’s visit should have focused on conveying the UK’s vision for ending the war, rather than simply learning the Sudanese government’s perspective. He explained that the government had already presented a roadmap to all international institutions and diplomatic missions, especially given that the militia’s crimes were being broadcast worldwide.

The Vice President of the Sovereign Council expressed his gratitude to the envoy for his visit to Sudan, noting that he had asked him to convey the messages he heard to Western diplomats. He emphasized the Sudanese government’s commitment to achieving a peace that preserves Sudan’s unity and sovereignty, adding, “We cannot proceed with any agreement or platform that would bring the militia back into the picture.”
