A “Diplomatic” Response to a Question About Kamil Idris’s Visit to UK
London – Sudanhorizon
MP Annelies Dodds, Secretary of State for Development, asked the Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development whether she had assessed the potential impact of Kamil Idris’s visit on the Sudanese community in the UK.
MP Chris Elmore, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Human Rights, Latin America and the Caribbean, responded on behalf of the Secretary of State, saying Kamil Idris’s visit to the UK was not at the invitation of Her Majesty’s Government. The UK government’s position has remained clear that only the Sudanese people have the right to determine the future of Sudan.
He said they are also in contact with the Sudanese community in the UK to discuss their approach to the conflict, ways to achieve peace, and support for a just, civilian-led transition.
