Maintenance and refurbishment works on cultural institutions and venues have begun in Al-Gezirah State in preparation for the upcoming cultural season. Renovation of the Al-Gezirah Radio station is complete (100%), and television station rehabilitation has surpassed 90% completion. Additionally, the State Museum, the Palace of Culture, and its library are being refurbished as part of the state government’s efforts to revive cultural and media activities and foster emotional recovery across the region.

This Thursday, Al-Gezirah State’s Minister of Culture and Information, Abdulrahman Ibrahim, inspected the maintenance work at Al-Gezirah Theater. He was accompanied by the Minister of Urban Planning, Engineer Abu Bakr Abdullah, and joined by various department directors from both ministries. The ministers assessed the progress of the rehabilitation and the ongoing preparations to bring the theater back into active cultural service following years of inactivity.

The Minister of Urban Planning emphasized his ministry’s commitment to rebuilding government institutions—particularly cultural venues—recognizing them as vital spaces for nurturing the creativity of the state’s residents. He noted that the theater serves as a key medium for cultural expression and entertainment, as well as a venue for showcasing the folk heritage of the community.

For his part, the Minister of Culture and Information affirmed the state government’s commitment to cultural and media activities and its support for the Ministry’s programs. He noted that the rehabilitation of the Theater marks the final step in completing the cultural recovery framework—following significant progress in refurbishing the radio and television stations, the state museum, and the Palace of Culture and its library—and pointed out that these efforts are being undertaken in preparation for the launch of the cultural season and the restoration of cultural institutions’ roles within the community.
