Mineral Resources Company Pledges to Protect the Rights of Host Communities

The Director General of the Sudanese Mineral Resources Company, Mohamed Tahir Omar, has pledged to protect the rights of communities hosting mining industries and activities.

In his meeting with the Paramount Chief of the Amarar and Independent Tribes, Chief Ali Mahmoud Hamad Hasai, on Thursday at his office in Port Sudan, Omar emphasized his keenness to protect the rights of communities hosting mining industries and activities and to provide them with all possible assistance in implementing service projects in the fields of education, water, and health.

He praised Chief Hasai’s significant cooperation in resolving the problems facing mining activities.

For his part, Chief Ali Mahmoud commended the company’s role in supporting and developing local communities within the framework of its social responsibilities. He affirmed his full support for the company to carry out its role in monitoring and supervising the mining sector and praised its efforts in supporting the national economy.
