The Chairman of the Transitional Sovereign Council and Commander-in-Chief of the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF), Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, on Monday reaffirmed rejection of any solution or initiative on the situation in the country that fails to include dismantling and disarming the militias.
Burhan has stressed “ I informed all envoys of my rejection of any solution that does not include dismantling and disarming the militias.”
Speaking at a memorial service for the martyrs of the Sudan Liberation Army (SLA), attended by the Governor of Darfur and SLA leader Minni Arko Minawi, General Burhan stressed “The suffering and atrocities inflicted by the militia in vast areas of Sudan, particularly Darfur and El Fasher, have left us with limited options and that is no militia presence tolerated”.
He added, “I informed all envoys, including the Norwegian, British, and Massad Boulos envoys, as well as the UN Secretary-General’s envoy, that any solution that does not include the dismantling and disarmament of the militia is something they should discuss with someone else.”
Burhan vowed to bring to justice the criminals, murderers, and malevolent individuals who committed all kinds of crimes, declaring that “they do not deserve to live among us in Sudan.” The Commander-in-Chief offered his condolences to the families of the martyrs of Sudan and the battle for dignity and honor, emphasizing the duty to uphold the rights of all those who sacrificed blood, money, or effort for the sake of Sudan.
He noted that the entire Sudanese people have been affected by this war and called upon anyone wishing to take up arms to fight the militia, saying, “You are welcome to join us in eliminating this terrorist, rebellious militia.”
Burhan praised the leading role played by Minni Arko Minawi, the Governor of Darfur, and praised the “extraordinary” efforts to end the fighting and secure the rights of citizens from the militia. He also expressed his deep appreciation for all the joint forces and all forces supporting the armed forces in the battle for dignity and honor.
He said, “We Commend you and appreciate your efforts, sacrifices, sincere and brotherly fighting, and your solidarity with Sudan and the suffering of the civilians.”
The Chairman of the Sovereign Council has meanwhile stressed the importance of cooperation and solidarity in eliminating the militia, welcoming the displaced people who arrived from El Fasher and out of all areas infiltrated by the terrorist Dagalo militia.
Burhan proposed that people should readopt ancient Sudanese flag – the flag of independence – calling for a return to the three-colored flag raised by Sudanese nation’s ancestors and fathers at the time of independence. He emphasized the need for restructuring the Sudanese state and building a Sudan on sound foundations.
