Egypt–Sudan Business Forum to Discuss Banking Integration Next Monday

Cairo – Sabah Mousa – Nazik Shammam

The third preparatory workshop for the second edition of the Egypt–Sudan Business Forum will be held next Monday, November 24, under the theme “Banking Integration Between Egypt and Sudan… Opportunities and Challenges.” The event is organized under the patronage of the Sudanese Embassy in Cairo and the Egyptian-Sudanese Company for Development and Multiple Investments, with the participation of officials, experts, and business leaders from both countries.

According to a statement issued by the Sudanese Embassy in Cairo and the Egyptian-Sudanese Company for Development and Multiple Investments, the workshop aims to strengthen banking cooperation between Egypt and Sudan and explore mechanisms for advancing economic integration through the development of financial transfer channels, as well as facilitating trade exchange and unifying efforts in banking fields such as financial innovation and joint financing. The workshop will also focus on enhancing banking connectivity between the two countries, the role of central banks in supporting joint financial policies, developing regional payment systems, digital transformation, and discussing the challenges facing banking linkage.

The statement added that the second edition of the forum, as a shared economic platform between the two nations, offers a valuable opportunity for meaningful dialogue to enhance economic and trade cooperation using innovative approaches. It noted that a series of targeted workshops is being held ahead of the forum to discuss proposed areas of cooperation. The first workshop, held on September 16, focused on opportunities and challenges in food and pharmaceutical manufacturing to serve the interests of the two peoples. The second workshop, held on October 26, addressed practical mechanisms for Sudan’s reconstruction as well as current and future logistical connectivity between Egypt and Sudan.

The statement noted that the three preparatory workshops will culminate in the second Egypt–Sudan Business Forum, scheduled for December under the patronage and presence of Sudanese Prime Minister Dr. Kamal Idris, alongside a large number of ministers and officials from both countries. Recommendations from the workshops will be submitted to relevant ministers and government bodies to be translated into concrete opportunities that enhance economic cooperation between Egypt and Sudan.

The forum comes within the framework of the historic ties and shared destiny between Sudan and Egypt, reflecting the directives of the leadership of both countries to deepen economic integration and expand bilateral cooperation in support of regional development. It builds on the achievements of the first Egypt–Sudan Business Forum, held on November 23, 2024, under the patronage of Egypt’s Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Transport and Industry, Lt. Gen. Kamel El-Wazir. With active participation from ministers, officials, and experts from both nations, the forum aims to explore investment opportunities, forge new partnerships, and elevate economic cooperation through sustained engagement among government leaders, businesspersons, investors, and experts in both countries—ensuring the forum’s continuity as a strategic platform capable of advancing the economic partnership to broader horizons.
