Sources:Consultations Currently Underway to End Sudan’s War

Sudanhorizon- Mariam Abasher – Exclusive
Informed sources revealed to Sudanhorizon news website that the efforts led by the United States, under the supervision of President Trump’s senior Advisor for African affairs, Massad Boulos, aimed to achieving peace and ending the war in Sudan, are being conducted amid extreme secrecy, and are still being conducted between the Sudanese and American sides.
The sources added that the intensive consultations are taking place in one of Sudan’s neighboring countries, and that the number of officials involved in these consultations from both sides is limited, and that a very narrow circle of decision-makers in Sudan is aware of what is going on now.
The sources indicated that if an agreement is reached between the Sudanese and American sides on a road-map to ending the war, the matter will shift to official negotiations sponsored by the United States and Saudi Arabia, in a new format akin to the Jeddah Forum.
The sources have indicated that any report or information about the results of these consultations currently being circulated is nothing but mere speculation and expectations.
On the other hand, the head of the Transitional Sovereign Council, Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, on Tuesday, during an inspection of Khartoum International Airport, welcomed the ongoing efforts to achieve peace.
He stressed that the Sudanese people want peace based on solid national foundations, and stressed the importance of taking this into account in any initiative aimed at ending the war. He said, “We do not want any role for mercenaries or militias in Sudan’s future.”
