Financial Committee to Fund Restoration of Services in Khartoum State

The Financial Committee of the Higher Committee for Creating a Conducive Environment for the Return of Citizens to Khartoum State reaffirmed the government’s focus on essential services, infrastructure, and security control as top priorities to ensure the safe return of citizens to the state.

It was confirmed that efforts will continue to secure the necessary funding in line with the state’s financial situation.

The committee, chaired by Minister of Finance and Economic Planning Dr. Jibril Ibrahim and including the Central Bank Governor and the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Finance, reviewed its mandates during a meeting today at the Ministry Complex. The session assessed financial performance and ongoing efforts to provide funding for the restoration of basic services, including public health, environmental sanitation, drinking water supply, education, electricity and solar energy, rehabilitation of major roads and bridges, and the reactivation of Khartoum International Airport, in addition to securing the environment and enforcing state authority.

It was also confirmed that the Central Bank of Sudan is committed to providing foreign currency through commercial banks to cover imports required for these priorities, while continuing to supply domestic financing according to available resources.

The committee includes representatives from the Internal Audit Bureau, the Accounts Bureau, Economic Security, Khartoum State, and all relevant entities.
