Minerals Ministry Revokes Contracts of (33) Mining Companies Found in Breach of Agreements

The Ministry of Minerals has announced the non-renewal of agreements for 33 local companies working in mining waste treatment, found in serious legal breach of contracts and of administrative violations” including breaches of contractual terms and failure to pay sovereign financial dues.
The Ministry said in a statement issued Monday that the decision comes within the framework of a plan to reorganize the mining sector and to ensure operating companies comply with legal controls and protect the rights of the state and that of local communities.
The Ministry affirmed that it will not hesitate in taking the required legal action against any party that violates the laws or wastes public resources, calling on all operating companies to strictly adhere to contract terms and meet their financial obligations.
The mining sector is one of the most prominent sources of national income in Sudan, and the government is working to tighten oversight therein amid escalating economic challenges.
