Agriculture Minister: The Former Minister Delivered an Exceptional Agricultural Season

The Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation, Professor Ismat Qurashi Abdullah, stated that the former Minister of Agriculture, Dr. Abu Bakr Al-Bushra, had delivered an exceptional agricultural season.
The handover ceremony between the two ministers took place on Sunday in the administrative capital, Port Sudan. Following the session, Minister Qurashi expressed his appreciation for the efforts made by the various units of the ministry. He affirmed that the former minister, Al-Bushra, had managed to lead a successful agricultural season despite the challenges posed by the war. He pledged to continue working and improving performance to achieve the ministry’s goals.
The new minister outlined his top priorities for the coming phase, including making agriculture the driving force of Sudan’s economy, reactivating stalled projects, focusing on small-scale farmers, localizing seed production, advancing agricultural research, and enhancing forestry and irrigation sectors.
It is noteworthy that Minister Ismat Qurashi assumed office following the merger of the agriculture and irrigation portfolios, succeeding Dr. Abu Bakr Omar Al-Bushra.
For his part, former minister and acting undersecretary Dr. Abu Bakr Omar Al-Bushra affirmed his full support for the new minister and his commitment to working alongside him to ensure food security for the people of Sudan.
