PM Inaugurates Several Service Facilities in Port Sudan with Saudi Support

Prime Minister Dr. Kamil Idris inaugurated several service facilities in Port Sudan, Red Sea State, on Thursday. These included the rehabilitation and construction of an intensive care unit and a neonatal care unit at the Children’s Hospital, an oxygen plant with a production capacity of up to 30 cubic meters per hour at the Accident Hospital, and a water desalination plant for the Accident, Children’s, Chest, and Psychiatric Hospitals, with a production capacity of 50 cubic meters per hour.

These projects are supported by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by the King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Action, through the national implementing partner, Kafaat Organization for Studies and Human Development. This comes as part of the Kingdom’s efforts to support and develop the health sector in the Red Sea State.

The Prime Minister expressed Sudan’s appreciation to the Kingdom, both government and people, for its development and humanitarian support, praising its supportive roles for the Sudanese people, noting that these projects are a living model of cooperation between brothers.

Kamel Idris monitored the progress of the Port Sudan Truck Water Desalination Plant rehabilitation project, in the presence of Lieutenant General Mustafa Mohamed Nour, the Red Sea Governor. He received assurances from the implementing agency that the project would be inaugurated shortly, praising the efforts of all those who contributed to this work.

Dr. Ahlam Abdel Rasoul, the governor’s representative and Director General of the state’s health sector, stated that the projects represent a qualitative leap in the health sector and support the state government’s efforts to localize treatment within the state. She expressed her appreciation for the Kingdom’s support in this area.

For his part, the Saudi Ambassador to Sudan, Ali bin Hassan bin Jaafar, explained that this support reflects the deep-rooted historical relations between Sudan and the Kingdom, emphasizing his country’s commitment to the security, stability, and well-being of the Sudanese people. He expressed his gratitude and appreciation for the Prime Minister’s inauguration of these projects, which included the participation of the Red Sea Governor.
