The Sudanese ambassador to Ethiopia and its representative to the African Union and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa, Al-Zain Ibrahim Hassan, has debriefed the Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa, Cleaver Gatete, on Monday, in Addis Ababa, on the most recent political and security developments in Sudan.
The meeting held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, was attended by the Minister Plenipotentiary at the embassy, Dr. Suad Mirghani.
Ambassador Al-Zain told the UN official that the expansion of secure areas in Sudan, following the defeat of the rebel Rapid Support Forces militia, in most of the regions and the return of a large number of civilians to their homes require UN assistance to provide services and normalize life.
Ambassador Al Zain also informed the UN official about important constitutional developments, foremost among which was the appointment of a civilian Prime Minister, Dr. Kamel Idris, who has begun consultations to name a cabinet that will lead the transition in light of the transitional roadmap that has previously been drafted.
