Political parties, armed movements, and civil society organizations in the Nuba Mountains signed a political alliance to reject the outcomes of the SPLM-N agreement led by Abdelaziz Al-Hilu and the second-in-command of the Rapid Support Forces Militia, Abdel Rahim Dagalo.
Mubarak Ardol, head of the Democratic Alliance for Social Justice, said: “Today, more than 69 political parties, armed struggle movements, civil society organizations, and national figures (under the umbrella of the political and civil society in the Nuba Mountains) met in Port Sudan and signed a comprehensive political charter to reject Al-Hilu’s alliance with the Janjaweed and oppose the transfer of the war to the Nuba Mountains/South Kordofan.”
He continued: “This new alliance brings together historical political forces and leaders inside and outside the country and seeks to coordinate all efforts to confront this serious threat to our nation’s history. We have begun working on this charter, and media, political, diplomatic, and other efforts will continue to preserve our land and liberate our people.”
