A responsible diplomatic source has called on the international community and international organisations to increase the volume of humanitarian aid directed to Sudan to address the humanitarian conditions resulting from the militia’s war against the Sudanese people.
In an exclusive statement to the news website “Sudanhorizon,” the source revealed that the international humanitarian support provided does not exceed 30% of the required humanitarian needs. The source added that the Sudanese government has consistently and continuously called on the international community and specialised United Nations organisations to increase support to address humanitarian challenges.
An American delegation from the Samaritan’s Purse organisation, led by Reverend Franklin Graham, visited Sudan and praised the Sudanese government’s efforts in facilitating the flow of humanitarian aid to those in need and ensuring coordination with operational entities to deliver relief to South Kordofan State.
The delegation held meetings with several senior state officials, including the Chairman of the Sovereignty Council, General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, whom they met on Monday in the presence of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the head of the National Joint Committee for Humanitarian Emergencies. During the meeting, Al-Burhan emphasised Sudan’s steadfast position in addressing humanitarian requirements without any political or media motives, expressing his gratitude to the organisation.
In a press statement, Lieutenant General Al-Saddiq Ismail Mahmoud, head of the National Joint Committee for Humanitarian Emergencies, stated that the meeting falls within the framework of the Sudanese government’s strategic vision regarding humanitarian aid. Reverend Franklin expressed his happiness with the visit to Sudan, praising the government’s efforts in facilitating the flow of humanitarian aid to those in need.
Reverend Franklin explained that Samaritan’s Purse has been operating in Sudan for 30 years, providing services nationwide. He added that the meeting discussed the activities and programs the organisation could offer in the future in various sectors, particularly the health sector, highlighting the fruitful cooperation between the organisation and the Ministry of Health in delivering health services.
Reverend Franklin noted that the meeting was an opportunity to exchange ideas and visions regarding humanitarian work, expressing his hope that Sudan would receive more support, especially during this critical phase it is undergoing.
He stated that he would convey what he observed during this visit to American institutions and entities so they could understand the challenges Sudan faces in the humanitarian field. He also expressed his wishes for the re-establishment of ties between the U.S. administration and the Sudanese government to serve the mutual interests of both countries.
