Sudan Invites Japan to Seize Investment Opportunities in the Country

Sudanese Minister of Finance and Economic Planning Dr. Jibril Ibrahim called on the Japanese government and companies to take advantage of the investment opportunities in Sudan and participate in the country’s reconstruction phase.
During the Japan-Africa Economic Forum held in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, the Sudanese minister met with Japan’s Deputy Minister of Economy, Trade, and Industry, Muhammad Al-Sayyid Ogushi Masaki, to discuss investment opportunities in Sudan.
Dr Ibrahim assured his Japanese counterpart that the war in Sudan was nearing its end and that peace and security would soon return. He emphasized the importance of reopening the Japanese Embassy in Sudan and the JICA office in Port Sudan.
The minister praised Japan’s support and grants for various projects implemented by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in agriculture, water, and environmental restoration. He expressed Sudan’s commitment to strengthening cooperation between the two countries in various fields, particularly economic collaboration.
Dr. Ibrahim highlighted Sudan’s diverse resources and pointed to promising opportunities in agriculture, livestock, minerals, natural gas, ports, tourism, and the fisheries sector.
The Japanese deputy minister underlined the importance of enhancing relations with Sudan, emphasizing the need to end the war and restore peace to capitalize on Sudan’s potential fully. He pledged the return of Japanese companies to Sudan and their contribution to reconstruction efforts.
Both parties agreed on the importance of strengthening ties in economic, trade, and investment sectors, fostering a robust partnership for mutual benefit.
