Sudan’s Ambassador in London: We Have Exercised Restraint Toward Addis Ababa

London – Sudanhorizon
The Sudan ambassador in London held a press conference on Thursday focused on the Ethiopian government’s escalating aggressions against Sudan, most recently manifested in a wave of drone attacks launched from Ethiopian territory.
Ambassador Babikir Al-Siddiq Mohamed Al-Amin, Head of the Mission, outlined the negative and hostile policy adopted by the Ethiopian regime against Sudan throughout the current war imposed upon the country. He noted that this began with unfriendly political stances and official statements from the Ethiopian government, followed by a disregard for international laws, norms, and the historical ties between the two peoples—evident in the treatment of Sudanese refugees in Ethiopia—and culminated in active participation in the fighting alongside criminal militias, as well as the launching of terrorist attacks from Ethiopian soil against civilian targets in Sudan.
The Ambassador highlighted the support Sudan has provided to Ethiopia at various stages during the numerous crises and conflicts the latter has faced—ranging from the participation of the Sudan Defence Force in liberating Ethiopia from fascist occupation, to the hosting of millions of Ethiopian refugees fleeing famines and wars, who were treated as citizens while in Sudan.
He stated that Sudan has consistently exercised restraint and strategic patience, hoping that reason, wisdom, respect for international law, and the principles of good neighborliness would prevail in Addis Ababa—while simultaneously affirming Sudan’s right to self-defense. The ambassador called on the international community to take a firm stance against this aggression, which threatens the Horn of Africa region and encourages efforts to dismantle African states.
