Khartoum – Sudanhorizon

The Economic Development Sector of the Council of Ministers, chaired by Minister of Finance Dr. Gibril Ibrahim, reviewed a report from the Ministry of Energy regarding the status of petroleum product supplies.

The report indicated that additional quantities are available to meet the needs of various productive and service sectors. Furthermore, necessary measures have been established to ensure a steady flow and distribution of fuel to all states.

The Economic Sector also reviewed a report on the status of electricity supply, which is showing gradual improvement following the integration of new power generation units, alongside ongoing maintenance work at transformer stations and across the national grid.

Additionally, the Economic Sector approved the draft Internal Audit for National State Institutions (Amendment) Act, 2026. The legislation aims to enhance independence and expand the scope of oversight over public funds through guidance, as well as preventive and corrective controls. It also seeks to adopt international standards for governance and risk management, while implementing oversight of computerized systems to mitigate the risks of financial cybercrimes.
