Government Plan to Localize Pharmaceutical Industry and Rebuild Infrastructure

The ministerial sectors of the Council of Ministers held a joint meeting today chaired by Minister of Finance Dr. Gibril Ibrahim, Chairman of the Economic Development Sector.

The joint meeting approved a report on the national pharmaceutical industry, stressing the need to develop a national strategy to advance the pharmaceutical sector, rely on local materials, and localize inputs in order to reduce dependence on external sources.

The meeting also stressed the need to adopt an investment roadmap for the pharmaceutical industry through government policies that support and incentivize the sector, in addition to rebuilding the pharmaceutical industry’s infrastructure, which was destroyed and damaged by the rebel Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia.
