Doctors: 4 Civilians, Including Child and Woman, Killed in Militia Attack on Dilling

Dilling – Sudanhorizon

The Sudan Doctors Network condemned the attacks carried out by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia last Friday using drones, targeting several residential neighborhoods in the city of Dilling, South Kordofan State.

In a statement on Sunday, the network said the attacks targeted the Al-Tumat, Al-Malikiyah, and Al-Maaser neighborhoods, killing four civilians, including a child and a woman, and injuring several others.

The network confirmed that targeting residential neighborhoods and civilian areas constitutes a grave violation of international humanitarian law and the rules protecting civilians during armed conflicts. It noted that the attacks reflect a continuing pattern of strikes that endanger civilians’ lives and exacerbate their humanitarian suffering in conflict-affected areas.

The Sudan Doctors Network said that repeated attacks on civilian gatherings and the use of weapons in populated areas increase the human toll, undermine civilians’ access to essential services, and contribute to spreading fear and instability among local communities.

The network called on the United Nations and international humanitarian and human rights organizations to condemn the targeting of civilians and residential neighborhoods and to work seriously to hold those responsible for these violations accountable. It also stressed the need for serious measures to protect civilians and ensure that perpetrators of serious crimes and violations do not escape accountability.
