Ahlam Madani Mahdi, Secretary-General of the National Investment Authority, stated that Port Sudan—thanks to its prime location on the Red Sea coast—is well-positioned to become a regional hub for investment, trade, and logistics.

Speaking to the press on Monday, she emphasized that the International Conference on Sudanese Ports—organized by the Sea Ports Corporation in collaboration with the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport—marks a strategic turning point for investment. She noted that the event reflects the state’s commitment to developing port infrastructure and highlights the vital role ports play in driving economic growth.

She pointed out that the conference is taking place at a crucial time to showcase promising investment opportunities within the ports and maritime transport sectors. She explained that the National Investment Authority has presented a package of ready-to-implement projects—spanning ports, energy, electricity, and other fields—while offering various incentives and privileges guaranteed by investment law, particularly under Public-Private Partnership (PPP) models such as Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT).

The Secretary-General noted the broad participation of regional and international institutions, experts, and the private sector, which reflects confidence in Sudan’s investment climate. She affirmed that the National Investment Authority welcomes all prospective investors and that its doors remain open to everyone.
