Al-Matamma – Sudanhorizon
The Sudanese General Authority for Geological Research and Al-Matamma Locality have discussed investment opportunities for mineral resources in the area, focusing on completing technical and economic studies for the Al-Jureif and Al-Barida areas.
Dr. Hamad Bashir Othman, Director of the Development Projects Department at the Authority, explained that the resources include gold, associated minerals, sand, and industrial minerals such as white sand and kaolin. He emphasized the importance of evaluating promising areas and preparing them for investment.
For his part, Consultant Geologist Mohamed Balla Sukkar, Director of the Engineering Geology Department, confirmed that the Al-Barida area contains silica sand with a purity level exceeding 90%. This quality makes it suitable for glass, ceramic, and porcelain manufacturing, as well as for use in fiber optics, solar cells, water purification, and foundry industries. He noted that the abundance of the raw material and its proximity to the Western Al-Tahadi Road enhance the prospects for its local exploitation and processing. Meanwhile, Al-Matamma Locality affirmed its readiness to provide the necessary facilities to support the Authority’s operations and investment in mineral resources.
