Hamra Al-Waz Is Free as It Should Be

Following the liberation of Jabra Al-Sheikh, to which the Hamra Al-Waz administrative unit belongs, the liberation of Hamra Al-Waz became only a matter of time, backed by the Armed Forces’ commitment to achieving victory and liberation.

The army has fulfilled its mission and kept its promise to the Sudanese people that the country’s land will be free of the brutal Janjaweed — “house by house, street by street, hamlet by hamlet.” Anyone who sees the Armed Forces, the Joint Forces, and the Al-Bara’a volunteers in Hamra Al-Waz, Sudri, Hamrat Al-Sheikh, and Al-Mazroub will surely see their vanguard in El Fasher and Umm Dafuq. And who is more faithful to His promise of victory than God, who grants victory to His sincere servants?

For our generation, the people of Greater Sudri, which includes the localities of Jabra Al-Sheikh and Sudri, we owe Hamra Al-Waz a debt of gratitude. We used to travel from every corner of the region to its examination center — the only secondary-school examination center in the entire Kababish homeland.

Hamra Al-Waz had the region’s first secondary school after Bara. The school consisted of two streams: one for the children of Hamra, known as “Al-Waz,” and another for students from the surrounding countryside, extending from Umm Indiraba in the east to Umm Santa in the west.

Ambassador Al-Obaid Marwah and I were among the final cohort to sit for the Sudanese secondary school certificate examinations there in 1978. After that, the children of Hamrat Al-Sheikh moved to Hamrat Al-Sheikh Intermediate School, which was inaugurated by the great educator, the late Professor Bashir Jadallah Farah, may God have mercy on him.

Who among us does not remember the late teacher of generations, Mohamed Osman Samal, a native of Omdurman, who remained in Hamra Al-Waz and devoted his youth and time to the region and its education? And who could forget the distinguished teachers Ahmed Abdel Rahim, Hassan Adila, Abdel Karim, Mohamed Hussein Muktair, and the many other educators of that era?

This is Hamra Al-Waz — a beacon of knowledge and a repository of memories.

Our greetings go to its people and its young volunteers who supported the Armed Forces and vowed that Hamra would follow Jabra in liberation, so that the entire Jabra Al-Sheikh locality would once again rest safely within the homeland.

We pray that victory will be completed with the liberation of Sudri Locality, which includes the Sudri and Hamrat Al-Sheikh administrative units, and where Wadi Al-Malik and Abu Zaima extend — areas where the terrorist Rapid Support Forces militia hides beneath the trees.

One Army, One People.

The land of Sudan is free from the stain of the Janjaweed and mercenaries.
