National Forum for Women’s and Children’s Violence Units Begins in Khartoum Tomorrow

The National Forum for State-Level Units against Violence on Women and Children will begin in Khartoum today, Sunday, with the participation of unit heads and staff from all Sudanese states.

Amira Azhari, Director General of the Women’s and Children’s Violence Unit, stated that the forum aims to unify perspectives, evaluate the performance of state-level units, and discuss a number of different topics related to the protection of women and children in the current phase.

She added, “The forum will include several sessions and diverse topics covering legal, social, and psychological aspects, in addition to issues of displacement and gender-based violence.”

She indicated that the forum’s main themes include discussing the legal framework and policies for the protection of women and children, monitoring, documentation, and case management mechanisms, as well as the issue of psychological and social support for survivors, the challenges facing work in displacement areas and shelters, capacity building for staff, standardizing guidelines, and the role of partnerships with relevant organizations and entities.

She affirmed that the forum would produce a unified national action plan and practical recommendations to enhance the work of state units and enable them to respond quickly and professionally to cases.
