Joint Committee Discusses Drug Supply Stability and Expansion of Health Insurance Services in Khartoum

A joint committee chaired by the Acting Minister of Health in Khartoum, Dr. Mahmoud Al-Badri, and comprising the National Health Insurance Authority, the Khartoum State Health Insurance Authority, and the Revolving Drug Fund, discussed several issues related to stabilizing healthcare services and ensuring the availability of medicines in treatment institutions.

The meeting also reviewed obstacles facing the provision of medicines, in addition to ways to expand health insurance services across various healthcare facilities in the state.

During the meeting, the Health Insurance Authority confirmed its intention to introduce a package of additional services alongside the basic services, in a move aimed at improving the quality of healthcare provided to citizens. The authority also indicated that several hospitals would be brought under the health insurance umbrella during the next phase.

According to the Sudan News Agency, Dr. Mahmoud Al-Badri welcomed the ongoing partnerships and coordination among the concerned bodies, praising the significant efforts exerted by the Health Insurance Authority and the Revolving Drug Fund to ensure the continued delivery of essential services to citizens despite the challenges and exceptional circumstances facing the state.

The acting minister also stressed the importance of strengthening credibility and understanding among partners in order to guarantee the continuity and sustainability of healthcare services and achieve stability in pharmaceutical supplies and medical treatment services for citizens.
