The Minister of State at the Ministry of Finance, Mohamed Nour Abdel-Daim, stated that “the priorities for the next phase are based on two main pillars: integrating the informal sector into the economic system to broaden the tax base and achieve fairness and transparency, and continuing the computerization project and the comprehensive implementation of electronic invoicing across all relevant entities, as it is a crucial tool for increasing revenues and combating tax evasion.”
Addressing the monthly meeting of the Tax Authority, attended by the Secretary-General of the Authority, Badr Al-Tamam Mohamed Saad, and with broad participation from finance ministers and directors-general of the Authority in various states via videoconference, the Minister announced the Ministry’s intention to conduct upcoming field visits to the states, accompanied by an all-inclusive team from the Tax Authority, the Audit Bureau, and relevant departments, to assess collection performance and address any shortcomings on the ground.
He called for the reactivation of stalled productive sectors, citing the industrial zones in Kassala and Gezira states, and stressed the need to provide support and incentive policies to attract businesses and traders displaced by the war. For his part, the Secretary-General of the Tax Authority, Badr Al-Tamam, affirmed that computerization and electronic invoicing constitute the cornerstone for raising collection efficiency and simplifying procedures for taxpayers. He indicated that the Authority continues to implement programs to expand the tax base in coordination with the Federal Ministry of Finance and the states to ensure stable collection and achieve the planned objectives.
