A Small Fire at the Merowe Dam Power Station Causes Power Outage in 4 States

The Ministry of Energy stated in a press release on Saturday that a small fire in one of the cables at the Merowe Dam power station caused it to go offline. The ministry added that Civil Defense Force and technical teams were able to promptly control the fire.
The ministry noted the impact of the outage on the electricity supply in the states of Khartoum, River Nile, Northern, and Red Sea States. It reassured people that technical and engineering teams are working around the clock to complete repair the damages and complete maintenance and restore power as soon as possible.
The ministry apologized to citizens for the outage, which was beyond its control.
