National Council for Child Welfare, UNICEF Sign Child Protection Case Management Memorandum

The National Council for Child Welfare (NCCW), together with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and partner organisations, signed a Unified Child Protection Case Management Memorandum in Khartoum on Thursday, in a move aimed at advancing the best interests of children and strengthening child protection and care frameworks in Sudan.

According to the Sudan News Agency (SUNA), the memorandum establishes a comprehensive framework covering both the theoretical and practical aspects of child protection. It includes modern protection pathways and mechanisms, assessment and evaluation standards, information management procedures, and the identification of national intervention priorities.

The signing ceremony was attended by Dr. Abdel Qader Abdullah Abu, Secretary-General of the National Council for Child Welfare; Johanna Eriksson, UNICEF’s Chief of Child Protection; Dr. Tahani Al-Mubashir, UNICEF Programme Manager; as well as representatives of partner organisations and relevant stakeholders.

The memorandum is intended to establish a unified approach that ensures effective coordination between the Council, UNICEF and other partners in delivering comprehensive child protection services and addressing children’s essential needs in line with both national and international standards.
