Al-Basar Charity Organization and the Sudanese Embassy in Asmara Organize Several Medical Camps in Eritrea

The Al-Basar (vision) International Charity Organization has recently organized several specialized medical camps in the field of ophthalmology in various regions of Eritrea, in coordination with the Embassy of the Republic of Sudan in Asmara, Eritrea.
A diplomatic source at the Sudanese Embassy in Asmara stated that the camps represented an outstanding example of humanitarian and community cooperation between the two countries. This cooperation provided free and direct medical services to Eritrean citizens, leveraging the expertise and skills of Sudanese medical professionals in the field of ophthalmology. This reflects the positive role that Sudanese institutions and organizations could play in strengthening ties and cooperation between the two peoples.
According to the diplomatic source, the camps witnessed a large turnout from Eritrean citizens. Medical teams from the Al-Basar International Charity Organization examined and treated more than eight thousand patients suffering from various eye problems and diseases.
He added that the activities were not limited to examinations and diagnoses, but extended to providing specialized therapeutic and surgical interventions. Medical teams performed 805 eye surgeries and distributed more than 5,000 pairs of eyeglasses to beneficiaries, directly contributing to improving the visual acuity and quality of life for thousands of citizens.
The diplomatic source emphasized the importance of continuing and developing such initiatives and encouraging relevant Sudanese institutions and organizations to expand their humanitarian and medical programs in Eritrea, thereby serving the citizens and strengthening people-to-people relations between the two countries.
The medical camps received high praise and appreciation at both the official and popular levels in Eritrea, in recognition of the free services they provided to citizens and for reflecting the spirit of solidarity and mutual support between the two brotherly peoples, according to the diplomatic source.
