Call for Support of Sudan’s Participation in the African Schools Football Championship
Khartoum – Sudanhorizon
The Secretary-General of the Higher Council for Youth and Sports and Acting Minister of Khartoum State, Babikir Ali Yahya, who also chairs the Financial Support Committee for the Fourth African Schools Football Championship, has renewed his appeal to public and private sector institutions to contribute financial and logistical support to ensure Sudan’s successful participation in the tournament.
Sudan will be represented by two national school teams—boys and girls under the age of 14—in the finals, which are scheduled to be held in Kigali, Rwanda, next September.
Babikir said the African Schools Football Championship is an important event that motivates young students and helps develop their football skills, preparing them to become future champions for Sudan.
The Federal Ministry of Education, represented by the General Administration of School Activities, has been holding continuous meetings with the Sudan Football Association, the Joint Technical Committee, and the Ministry of Youth and Sports to complete all necessary preparations well in advance. The efforts are aimed at ensuring a successful participation in what is considered a significant challenge for Sudan under the current circumstances facing the country.
