Health Minister in Washington to Participate in Health Sector Rehabilitation Conference

The Sudanese Minister of Health, Dr. Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim, arrived in Washington, D.C Tuesday , accompanied by a delegation from the Ministry, at the invitation of the Sudanese American Medical Association (SAPA). The Minister is scheduled to participate tomorrow Thursday in a conference to discuss ways to rehabilitate and rebuild the health sector in Sudan and restore medical services in the country.
The Sudan News Agency reported that the Sudanese Ambassador to the United States, Mohamed Abdullah Idris, along with members of the Embassy and Dr. Sarah Issa, a member of the Board of Directors of SAPA, welcomed the Minister upon his arrival in the United States.
The Minister is also scheduled to brief conference attendees on the extent of the systematic destruction sustained by Sudan’s health sector as result of the rebel Rapid Support Forces militia aggression. He will also meet with several humanitarian organizations and agencies involved in supporting the health sector to forge partnerships and strengthen cooperation aimed at improving the quality of healthcare services in Sudan.
It is worth noting that the Sudanese American Physicians Association (SAPA) is a humanitarian and scientific organization dedicated to improving the quality of healthcare and supporting and developing the conflict-affected health system in Sudan. SAPA implements programs and provides health services in numerous war-affected areas of the country
