First Specialized Addiction Treatment Hospital in Port Sudan

The Red Sea State has entered into a strategic partnership with the Wadi Amur Organization to establish the state’s first specialized addiction treatment hospital, a significant step towards combating drugs and mitigating their negative effects.
This agreement was reached during a meeting of the state’s Anti-Drug Subcommittee, chaired by the Governor of the Red Sea State, Lieutenant General Mustafa Mohamed Nour, with a delegation from the Wadi Amur Organization on Sunday at the Governor’s office.
According to the Sudan News Agency (SUNA), the organization’s Projects Director, Adel Abdullah Ahmed, confirmed that the project has the support and blessing of the Governor. He explained that the implementation phase will begin soon with the laying of the hospital’s foundation stone. He noted that this project is part of a comprehensive package of programs implemented by the organization in cooperation with the subcommittee, which includes organizing conferences and awareness workshops targeting the local community to build a conscious and resilient society.
For his part, the Vice Chairman of the Anti-Drug Subcommittee, Ali Hassan, praised the close cooperation with the Wadi Amur Organization, describing the Governor’s meeting as successful. During the meeting, detailed reports on the committee’s achievements and programs were reviewed. Hassan stated that the initiative to establish the specialized hospital reflects the organization’s commitment to supporting stability and promoting health and social development in the state.
The project aims to provide specialized treatment and rehabilitation services for those affected by addiction, as part of the committee’s ongoing efforts, in cooperation with development partners, to address this phenomenon.
