Khartoum – Sudanhorizon

The technical committees of the ministerial sectors affiliated with the Council of Ministers approved the Draft Miscellaneous Amendments Act of 2026 during a joint meeting held on Monday and chaired by the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Defense, Lieutenant General Ahmed Saleh Ahmed Abboud.

The draft legislation was approved in preparation for its submission to the Council of Ministers for final endorsement.

During the meeting, participants emphasized the importance of enforcing laws in a manner that upholds state authority, particularly with regard to crimes involving the smuggling of precious minerals, especially gold, as well as goods that negatively affect the national economy.

The committees also stressed the need to provide legal protection for members of the regular forces engaged in anti-smuggling operations.

In addition, the meeting highlighted the importance of activating and enforcing laws related to information technology and media publishing platforms, particularly concerning content deemed harmful to the state, its sovereignty, or social cohesion.

Participants further underscored the importance of protecting and preserving human life and ensuring that relevant legal frameworks are effectively implemented to support that objective.

The approved amendments will now proceed to the Council of Ministers for consideration and final approval.
