The Chairman of the Transitional Sovereign Council, Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, met on Sunday with the visiting French parliamentary delegation headed by Christopher Mario, in the presence of the Governor of Darfur, Minni Arko Minawi.
The meeting reviewed developments in Sudan and the government’s efforts to achieve security and stability throughout the country.
The Chairman of the Sovereign Council briefed the French delegation on the violations and atrocities committed by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) against civilians, as well as their systematic targeting of state resources, institutions, and infrastructure projects.
For his part, French parliamentarian Christopher Mario explained that the visit aimed to examine the grave violations perpetrated by the militia against civilians in Darfur and other regions. He emphasized the deep-rooted relations between his country and Sudan and France’s work with European partners to ensure the country’s unity.
Mario revealed that he had submitted a request to the French Parliament to designate the RSF as a terrorist organization due to its inhumane practices and the crimes it has committed against civilians. He also referred to the French Foreign Minister’s statement about his upcoming visit to Sudan accompanied by his German counterpart, and considered that this step reflects France’s desire to strengthen its relations with Sudan as a strategic partner, and stressed that the stability of Sudan represents a fundamental pillar for the stability of the region and the entire area.
