Finance Ministry Vows to Remove Obstacles to Health Insurance and Standardised Treatment

The Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, Dr Gibril Ibrahim, promised to overcome obstacles to health insurance and the unified treatment system based on the partnership between the Ministry of Finance and the General Secretariat of the Zakat House to enhance the state’s efforts aimed at localising treatment domestically for the benefit of the citizen.
He stressed – during his meeting on Wednesday with the Secretary-General of the Zakat House at the Ministry’s headquarters in Port Sudan – the government’s interest in increasing spending on the health and education sectors as a priority within the interest in building human resources and rehabilitating the infrastructure for development, directing the formation of a committee from the Ministry of Finance and the Zakat House to review spending on health insurance and control the granting of its cards to those entitled to them, stressing the need to expand the umbrella of health insurance to include all targeted people in the states, and the minister promised to facilitate the procedures for transferring zakat for taxpayers working abroad in coordination with the competent authorities.
For his part, the Secretary General of the Zakat House, Ahmed Ibrahim, provided a detailed briefing on the House’s performance and what it achieved in terms of connection, which reached 106% during the first half of this year, indicating that the House’s services reach citizens in all shelter centres in the states and that the House contributes to facilitating voluntary return to Omdurman, pointing to the House’s support for the health sector by financing health insurance for the poor and needy and supporting the education sector for their benefit. The Secretary-General revealed the House’s efforts to develop performance and increase revenues by launching the computerisation and digital transformation system, activating laws, and raising the awareness of taxpayers.
