Kamil Idris Reviews Embassy Preparations in Addis Ababa

Addis Ababa – Sudanhorizon

Prime Minister Professor Kamil Idris made a stopover at Addis Ababa Airport on his return to the country, where he received a detailed briefing from Sudan’s Ambassador to Ethiopia and Permanent Representative to the African Union, Al-Zein Ibrahim. The briefing covered the diplomatic mission’s activities in preparation for the upcoming African Union summit scheduled for February, prospects for strengthening Sudanese–Ethiopian relations, as well as the situation of the Sudanese community and Sudan’s presence within the mission’s area of representation. The Prime Minister praised the embassy’s role in this regard.

The Prime Minister also listened to a report on the mission’s activities and its engagement with member states of the African Union Peace and Security Council during this sensitive phase. He noted that lifting the decision to suspend Sudan’s activities within the African Union would enhance the country’s ability to participate effectively in African forums, given that Sudan is a founding and leading state in the region with significant contributions to the continent’s history.

The Prime Minister was returning from the United Nations’ European headquarters in Geneva, where he met with several heads of UN agencies and discussed issues of mutual interest between their organizations and Sudan.
