US and UAE Ministers Discuss Regional Developments, Including in Sudan

US State Department Deputy Spokesperson Tommy Pigott said the US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has discussed several pressing regional issues, including the situation in Sudan, in a phone call on Friday with UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed.

The two ministers emphasized the urgent need for a humanitarian ceasefire.

The Deputy Spokesperson added that the two ministers also discussed the progress of the second phase of President Trump’s peace plan for Gaza.

They also addressed developments in Yemen and the importance of countering the threat posed by the Iranian-backed Houthis, and agreed to continue coordinating to support regional security and stability.
