6 Airports and 7 Land Crossings to Serve Humanitarian Operations

Port Sudan – Sudanhorizon
The Sudanese government announced on Friday that it has allocated five Sudanese airports, in addition to Port Sudan Airport and seven land crossings, to serve organisations working in the humanitarian field.
Through the “Technical Mechanism of the National Emergency Committee,” the government reiterated its commitment to providing all necessary facilities to ensure the smooth flow of humanitarian aid and to do everything possible to help deliver assistance to those in need across the country.
According to a press statement issued by the “Technical Mechanism,” the government has approved the opening of Kassala, Dongola, and El-Obeid airports, in addition to Kadugli Airport, which was agreed upon by the President of the Sovereignty Council and the President of South Sudan, to facilitate the flow of humanitarian aid. This makes a total of six airports available to international organisations, along with seven land crossings that had been previously approved.
The statement noted that ‘effective coordination is currently underway to begin airlifting humanitarian aid to South Kordofan state from Juba Airport to Kadugli Airport.’ Thus, the government has fulfilled all requirements for the entry and flow of humanitarian aid by air, land, and sea.
The government reiterated its determination to alleviate the suffering of citizens and called on the international community to fulfil its commitments in providing material and financial aid while also pressing the rebels to cease their inhumane actions, such as detaining aid workers or besieging and shelling civilians, as has been happening for the third month in the city of El Fasher.
