33 Insolvents Relieved and Set Free from Al-Bir Correctional City in Al-Qadarif

The Minister of Human Resources and Social Welfare, the Governor of Al-Qadarif, and the Secretary-General of the Zakat Chamber oversaw the release of 33 insolvent from Al-Bir Correctional City in Al-Qadarif State on Saturday. The release was made possible through support from the Zakat Chamber, amounting to over 165 million Sudanese pounds, as part of the “Fifth Charity Initiative.” The debts owed by the insolvents were settled by the Zakat Chamber’s Debtors Committee.

During his address to the released persons, the Minister of Human Resources and Social Welfare urged them to reflect and consider the future in order to participate in development, reconstruction, and production programs. He also announced that all projects submitted by the released inmates would be funded through the Savings Bank.

For his part, the Governor of Al-Qadarif praised the significant projects undertaken by the Zakat Bureau in the state, urging those released to turn the page and resolve never to return to prison. The Governor also announced support for the prison’s vocational training institute, aiming to equip inmates with skills that will enable them to earn a dignified living.

Similarly, the Secretary-General of the Federal Zakat Bureau confirmed that the release of the inmates is part of the social packages of the Fifth Charity Campaign. He highlighted the Zakat Bureau’s role in securing the release of inmates both within Sudan and abroad, revealing the release of 400 Sudanese inmates from Egyptian prisons.

Furthermore, the Minister of Human Resources, the Governor of Al-Qadarif, and their accompanying delegation inspected the newly operational retinal and vitreous surgery unit at the Eye Hospital. This unit was fully funded by the state’s Zakat Bureau with over one billion Sudanese pounds to promote local treatment options.
