Finance and Economic Planning Minister Dr Jibril Ibrahim, along with Agriculture Minister Dr Abu Bakr Al-Bushra, met with the Resident Representative of the World Food Program (WFP) to discuss the importance of expediting the implementation of funding allocated from the African Development Bank Group’s Development Fund, amounting to $100 million, to finance production inputs and support agricultural operations for the upcoming winter season to ensure its success.
During Monday’s meeting with Eddie Rowe, WFP’s Resident Representative in Sudan, held in Port Sudan, the Finance Minister emphasized the importance of the funding executed by the WFP as a third party in supporting the government’s efforts to provide the necessary agricultural inputs for a successful winter season.
Eddie Rowe indicated that the approved funds are intended to finance the second phase of the wheat production project, which aims to ensure integrated food security crops in Sudan.
The meeting, attended by Mohamed Bashar, the Planning Undersecretary at the Ministry of Finance, addressed the season’s needs for seeds, improved seedlings, fertilizers, and all other inputs, specifying their quantities. The discussion also covered ways to fund them and finalize preparations for the winter season.
