University of Khartoum Advances in Webometrics Global Ranking

The University of Khartoum has topped Sudanese universities in terms of research excellence, openness, academic performance, and global presence, according to the second half of 2025 Webometrics Ranking, issued by the Spanish National Research Council. The Sudan University of Science and Technology ranked second, followed by Omdurman Islamic University in third place.

The purpose of the Webometrics Ranking is to enhance the online presence of higher education and research institutions and to encourage the publication of peer-reviewed journals and research, aiming to position Sudanese universities on the international academic map. The University of Khartoum stands out as the only Sudanese university among the top 100 in Africa.

It is noteworthy that, despite the ongoing war, the University of Khartoum has successfully completed five examination cycles to address student backlog and graduate thousands of students. Sudan University of Science and Technology and Omdurman Islamic University have also carried out similar efforts.
