United Nations: Aid Reaches 11 Million Sudanese in First Half of 2026

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) has stated that humanitarian partners were able to reach approximately 11 million people across Sudan and provide them with at least one form of assistance in the first half of this year.

The office warned that funding shortfalls – coupled with insecurity – have reduced the level of support that humanitarian organizations could provide.

Many people received food aid sufficient for only three or four months instead of the planned six months.

OCHA noted that the funding shortage is also causing critical gaps in the humanitarian response and limiting the scope of assistance provided to those in need.

Only 1.7 million people – equivalent to 16% of the 11 million people assisted during the first half of the year – received support across multiple sectors, including health, education, protection, food security, and other forms of assistance.

OCHA reiterated that the humanitarian appeal for Sudan this year has received only about 39% of its funding. It called for additional funding to reach as many people as possible, given that many are in dire need of this assistance.
