UN Security Council Holds Behind the Camera Meeting on Sudan

The UN Security Council is expected to hold closed-door consultations on Sudan on Monday , at the request of Denmark and the United Kingdom, the pen-holder.

According to a press release issued by the Security Council, the meeting is expected to focus on the humanitarian and human rights situation in Sudan, particularly in light of the ongoing violence in the Kordofan region.

Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs, Tom Fletcher, is also expected to brief the Council on the latest developments in the country.

Fletcher recently visited Sudan and met with officials in Port Sudan. He also visited the Tawila camp for internally displaced persons from El Fasher.
