The Director General of the Sudanese Ports Authority, Engineer Gilani Mohamed Gilani, discussed with a delegation from the Turkish energy logistics company, Argaz, on Tuesday in Port Sudan investment opportunities and ways to enhance cooperation in the ports sector.
The meeting was headed by the company’s Chairman of the Board, Mohamed Dabbagh.
The discussions focused on several proposed projects, including the establishment of a strategic gas storage facility, the development of a floating berth, and the implementation of specialized ship maintenance projects at both Khair and Sawakin Ports. These projects aim to improve infrastructure efficiency and strengthen the capabilities of Sudanese ports.
Gilani has emphasized the need to finalize the details of these proposals following a field visit to the proposed locations in Port Sudan and Port Sudan Khair and Sawakin Ports. He also stressed the importance of coordinating with the Ministry of Petroleum to ensure integrated efforts.
The Turkish company’s delegation showcased examples of its previous projects and its technical and operational expertise in maritime and logistics services, emphasizing its readiness to transfer this expertise to Sudan through effective partnerships.
The company’s chairman affirmed Argaz’s desire to enter into joint investments with the Sea Ports Corporation, highlighting the significant potential of the Sudanese ports sector and its development opportunities.
This step is a follow up on the outcomes of previous meetings in Turkey and is part of the Corporation’s ongoing efforts to expand its international partnerships and attract high-quality investments, particularly in technical and engineering fields, thereby supporting development plans and strengthening the role of ports in bolstering the national economy.
It is worth noting that Argaz operates in the gas sector, possesses fixed assets and extensive experience in the field, and has operations in several countries.
